Global Recycled Standard

The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) certifies products made from recycled materials and manufacturing activities and is recognised as the most important international standard for the production of sustainable textile products.

It is given to products made from recycled materials that observe environmental and social criteria throughout the production chain.

The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) is promoted by Textile Exchange, one of the most important non-profit organisations promoting responsible and sustainable development in the international textile sector.

With this standard, Textile Exchange recognises the fundamental importance of recycling for the growth of a sustainable production and consumption model; it aims to reduce the consumption of resources (virgin raw materials, water and energy) and increase the quality of recycled products.

The GRS requires an environmental statement verified by third parties to attest that the products contain recycled materials and comply with environmental and social criteria throughout the production chain.

The GRS guarantees that products are composed of at least 20% pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled materials, and that manufacturing processes use management models and procedures that comply with the established requirements when using recycled materials to make intermediate products such as yarns and fabrics, or finished products intended for the consumer.
