TENCEL™ is an ecological fibre obtained from wood cellulose using an environmentally-friendly closed-loop chemical process. TENCEL™ Lyocell yarns are very popular in the textile industry.

There are two types of TENCEL™ fibre:

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibre, obtained from eucalyptus wood;
TENCEL™ Modal fibre, obtained from beech wood.

Both kinds of wood are cultivated by companies certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which observe standards that are both socially and responsibly useful for the environment.

Features that make TENCEL™ Lyocell yarns excellent

TENCEL™ is a naturally elastic, breathable, temperature-regulating and antimicrobial fibre.

Shiny and soft to the touch, it dries quickly and can be used to make comfortable fabrics that are pleasant in contact with the skin.

Sustainability

TENCEL™ fabric is similar to Rayon and bamboo, all being cellulosic in nature and regenerated.

However, TENCEL™ is considered to be among the most environmentally-friendly regenerated cellulose fibres in the world. In fact, the process is of the closed cycle type, i.e. 99.5% of the solvent used for extraction is recovered, purified and reused for subsequent extractions. This saves energy and water resources.

Moreover, the small percentage of waste produced is decomposed in biological purification plants, which eliminates the need to dispose of chemicals.

Our yarns with lyocell are FSC (Forest Stewadship Council®) certified.

Micro TENCEL™

Micro TENCEL™ fibres have the same chemical properties as TENCEL™ fibres, but have different physical properties because of their fineness. In fact, the thread count of the microfibre is lower than 1 dTex, which combined with its high quality level makes it perfect for making sports articles.
