Origin of flax fibre

With a history that extends back to ancient times, flax fibre is a natural raw material of vegetable origin composed of 70% cellulose and produced mainly in Central Europe.

The finest flax fibres are obtained by hand picking. This is followed by a retting step to extract the actual fibre from the stem, which is used either pure or mixed to produce fine natural flax yarns.

Flax fibres are much more durable and shiny than other textile fibres, and produce fresh, absorbent fabrics that crease easily to give the classic, naturally crushed appearance.
